This website details our plans for Lentons Lane Solar Farm, a proposed solar farm capable of producing 25MW of clean, sustainable energy. That’s enough energy to fully recharge an electric bus over 66,000 times a year*.
We consulted on early plans between Thursday 3 July and Monday 8 September 2025.
This website includes all of the information available as part of the pre-application consultation and contact details which you can use to get in touch with the team.
Latest: Plans for Lentons Lane Solar Farm have been approved by Coventry City Council (18 December 2025). A decision on the part of the project within Rugby Borough Council is expected in early 2026.

What is Lentons Lane Solar Farm?
Lentons Lane Solar Farm is a planned new solar farm in Coventry.
You may remember that we consulted on initial plans for a solar farm at this site in 2023. The feedback we received, along with our environmental assessments and technical work, have been used to shape and improve our updated proposals.
As before, Lentons Lane Solar Farm is planned on land next to the M6, between Aldermans Green Lane and Hinckley Road.
The updated plans are part of the E.ON and Coventry City Council Strategic Energy Partnership – a 15-year collaboration to reduce emissions, energy bills and unlock opportunities across the city of Coventry.
Public consultation
We consulted on our updated plans for Lentons Lane Solar Farm earlier this year (July – September 2025). Key changes to the proposals since our last consultation include:
- Increased distance between the solar farm and homes on Lentons Lane
- New site access points to help reduce disruption during construction
- Smaller footprint, with a reduction in the overall area proposed for solar panels
We have also carried out surveys to understand the area. Both of these things have fed into our planning applications which have now been submitted:

Plans for Lentons Lane Solar Farm were approved by Coventry City Council on 18 December 2025. We would like to thank everyone who has shared their views on the project to date, which has helped shape the plans.
A decision on the part of the project within Rugby Borough Council is expected in early 2026.
